New to the Troop?

Hi!  Welcome to your daughter's new Daisy troop!

We held our parent information meeting on November 4th, it was great to meet everyone!  For anyone  unable to attend, you can download the meeting notes HERE.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!

Below, I have compiled a list of forms and actions needed to get your daughter started.

FIRST, you need to REGISTER your daughter with the Girl Scouts (there will be a $12 fee) so that we can sign her up for our troop (troop 6158) NOTE:  I believe that I will have to request your daughter be placed in our troop after you register, so please send me an email once you have your daughter registered.  wendygroszki AT aol DOT com

SECOND, fill out and return the following forms to me as possible:
  1. Welcome Letter & Checklist
  2. Meet My Daughter (C330)
  3. Girl Health History/Emergency Medical Authorization Form (A130)
  4. Adult Health History/Emergency Medical Authorization Form (B230)
  5. Troop Transportation Information (B242)
  6. Financial Assistance Request Form (B251)
  7.  List of those authorized to pick up your daughter from meetings
  8. *more will be added as I learn what is needed!

THIRD, purchase uniform, girl scout guide, and journey book (see link to the right for Centreville mini-shop, or purchase online at the GSUSA ShopNOTE:  Right now, girls can buy a starter kit that includes everything they need and some basic patches (troop #'s, etc) and they get a cute little canvas bag for free! (avail. online and at the local store)
  1. Uniform:  Feel free to select the tunic or the vest.  I have purchased a tunic for my daughter as I think it is cute!  And it would be nice to have the Council ID set (Nation's Capital) and troop numbers.
  2. Journey Book:  We will start with book 1,  "Welcome to the Daisy Flower Garden" as it ties in with the daisy patches they will earn.  There is a parent guide available if you want more info about the program.  If you do the starter kit online, it requires purchase of 2 journey books...if we have time, I will plan on doing the "Three Cheers for Animals" journey next (otherwise we will start it next year)
  3. The "Daisy Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting" is the main guidebook for Daisy Badges (earning the petals of the daisy).  They re-designed the book this year, so online it is on backorder.  I was able to get one from the Centreville mini-shop, but I cannot guarantee they will stay in stock.  Please let me know if you cannot get one, I can photocopy pages as needed.
  4.
FOURTH:  Pay dues for the year $30 annual fee plus $2 per meeting (girls can bring in the $2 each week, we will allow the girls to collect it at the meeting and record it, teaching them some basic money skills, plus kids LOVE to have little jobs to do!).  As we earn money for our troop with cookie sales, the per meeting dues may decrease.  We will use due money to pay for badges, pins, items for our celebrations, items to help with our journey, replacing or buying new craft  supplies, etc.

FIFTH:  The Girl Scout Council will provide financial assistance for anyone who needs it - Financial Assistance form.

Whew, that is a lot!  Please let me know if you have ANY questions!  :)

Thank you, and welcome to our new troop!  I am super-excited as I know we will have a wonderful year!

Wendy G.  (I won't make anyone, especially the girls, learn our last name - Groszkiewicz)
